jefferson market garden, just might be the answer.

strolling along the other day, i happened into this quiet little gem of a garden. it has never been open when i previously walked by–being the sucker i am for garden spaces, upon seeing the open gates, i had to go in.

you are greeted by a central lawn of green, soft grass. around the perimeter is a quaint brick walkway, begging for a stroll. it’s hard to believe this patch of lovely was once a women’s prison.

if you are looking for a beautiful outdoor space for your commitment ceremony or nuptials, consider this space. you can’t put chairs on the lawn, which means a short & sweet exchange of vows. and at $1500 bucks, it probably isn’t the most practical way to get hitched, but it would be beautifully sweet.

the jefferson market garden is only available for ceremonies, not for receptions, so you would have to march everyone to a different locale for party-time. consider hiring some wandering minstrels to lead you and your happy crowd to the final destination!

    it really is beautiful!
and despite being smack-dab in the middle of
three main streets NYC, it’s quiet & intimate.
