veggies on film

saturday mornings.
do you roll out of bed–bleery-eyed, putting on the first thing you grab out of your closet, pull your hair into a ponytail, grab a cup of coffee & your canvas bag as you head out to the greenmarket in your ‘hood?
well. i suggest taking a few more moments in the mirror because your cute, sexy mug just might get immortalized on film.
sam hollenshead, a brooklyn based photographer with an interest in local food and the environment, is currently working on a photo project for the Council of the Environment–the people who organize Greenmarkets throughout NYC. his portraits of market-loving NYers explore how local food brings people together & creates community interaction. the series of photos, taken throughout the five boroughs as a way to promote the Greenmarkets hopes to draw attention to the local food movement–of how our collective society is becoming more conscious of food & the need for sustainable practices.
if you would like to learn more about this project or contact Sam you can email him at: sam@samhollenshead.com or visit his website at www.samhollenshead.com.

I now have this Saturday morning planned because of Sam Hollenshead’s photos of the Green Market. Looks like a GREAT time at the open air market and a diverse collection of New Yorkers. Love that FISH shot….
