recycled bottle candles

walking around aimlessly the other day, i stumbled upon a street fair.

imagine that!

yes, indeed.  it is a sure sign of summer when the street fairs start popping up all over town.   they reek havoc on traffic, and send you home reeking of the distilled smells of roasted corn cobs & the many variety of beefs-on-a-stic.

this particular monstrosity, over by the brecht forum, had some interesting flair usually absent from the sad fair we are commonly used to.

there was music, clothed tables seated with families & friends laughing it up, and alternating between breezy summer dresses, interesting vendors beyond the typical sock man & bonsai dude.  in addition, awesome antique vendors (i scored the locket i had always hinted at,  but never got) and  fun, hip, creative stuff was on display as well.

my favorite item for sell were these refashioned liquor & beer bottles into candles–under the provocative name “lets get lit candles”.   after what seems to have been the equivalent of a frat party weekend of drinking, they cut off the bottlenecks & use high-quality gel wax (which burns 2-3 times longer than typical wax, helping you stay lit longer).

you can also have them do custom labels for a specific event and they do custom scents–always a favorite…the beer aroma.
