paper flowers: sunday paper

i am always looking for floral alternatives, and while this arrangement is not entirely flower-free, it gets the eco-idea across.
san francisco event designers, silleperre, combine hydrangeas & tulips with cute handmade newspaper roses. i really love the idea.
it reminds me of these simple cloth roses my mom used to make back in texas for every cousin’s wedding toss.
a very simple 6 inch fabric tubes sewn together and attached to wire with floral tape. you then filled them with rice/ lavender/petals & folded the tops down. they ended up looking like a rose. then you put pails of them out on the tables and as the bride & groom leave, a flick of the wrist showers them in confetti like rain of well-wishes.
sorta like those paper chinese yo-yos.
