greyhound vintage valentine’s
i am a sucker for a sweet face, and these pups are pretty cute.
photographer barbara karant combines her love of greyhounds & imagery with these vintage inspired valentines. while none of the money goes to charity, it is still nice to see someone spreading the word about the plight of these sweet creatures.
what lots of folks don’t know is that the greyhound racing industry spawned a “market” for the breed that is unsustainable. breeding for competitive dogs has lead to an “overstock” of the dogs & because they are not supporting the industry they are sacrificed.
these natural athletes are cursed to have hearts & lungs that mimic the human female. so, some dogs will be sold into medical research labs for cardio vascular studies. this is heartbreaking–what can you do?
