good deeds

queen of spain blogger, erin kotecki vest, is starting the new year off right by sending someone to the ‘09 BlogHer conference. this lady is paying it forward, as she recognizes, “i realized much of it was because i became involved in the BlogHer community many moons ago.”

how cool is that!

this is exactly the type of community building i love to see, and also hope to foster with the gardenpartynyc blog. originally, i started posting as a way to compliment my green-minded event planning business, but quickly–i mean literally, within days–understood blogging was going to become a huge focal point in my life. i feel totally inspired by the creativity & dedication out there, but i am also a bit intimidated on how to reach my goals.

BlogHer ‘09 seems custom made for my (and possibly maybe even your) current blogging dilemmas.

the conference is designed to keep things personal (only 150 or so attendees) so each person can ask meaningful questions to help shape & crystallize their ideas. this year the breakout sessions include: owning your expertise & identity, blogging for change & action, and one of my absolute faves…how not to be a blogwhore! (avoid clear heels for one!)

however, the green & eco-blogging session has my interest fully peaked! i really hope that at some point, my blog will be a catalyst for creative change & be a resource for other inspired greenies. change happens through example/awareness. by getting my ideas out there, i hope to help widen people’s perspective & provide the encouragement to make green choices–and not just about the kind of parties they throw. this special focus session is welcomed, as i am desperate to learn ways to reach out and help people evaluate their lifestyle choices.

if you know of any bloggers that need a little boost (besides me) send them to erin’s site. with a little luck, they might just be in chicago come july!

that’s good karma for everyone!

  1. Hey, I should probably clarify: BlogHer Business on Thursday July 23rd will be capped at only 150 people, but the annual conference…July 24-25…which is the one Erin is offering a pass for, is actually quite large…probably over 1100 people this year.

    Thought you should know!
