last ditch summer
august was a big fake out. summer never got hot, hot, hot this year, so we are holding on as hard as we can to it.
thus, the inspiration for this post.
i think the garden is great for wedding/baby showers or a perfect birthday luncheon theme.
use seed pack cards as invites.
clustered herbs in pots as centerpiece (later as favors).
organic torrentes vino from argentino–i had this newcomer recently, and while too flowery for my taste, most find the top notes of jasmine & herbs refreshing.
while rhubarb is not in season anymore, some farmstands still have strawberries. whip up a pie with basil ice cream. or hit up cuff & buttons for their amazing strawberry, basil lemonade (spike it with some square one if you like)
serve fresh salads with fruit fixins
and send home your guests with perennial favorite, herbs in a bag, if you want to keep the centerpiece for yourself! or give out biodegradable herbal soaps!
